A New Year, a New Vision.
As we step into 2025, we—J. and S., the couple behind Lux & Umbra—wanted to take our lives and business to the next level. This year, we committed to something tangible: a physical vision board. A space to manifest what’s ahead, to turn our dreams into something we can see every single day.
The Process: From Ideas to Reality
At the end of December, on New Year’s Eve, we sat down separately to write our own personal goals and then our shared ones. With our lists in hand, we poured them into our respective journals, marking down what mattered most. But writing it wasn’t enough—we needed something material, something to see, touch, and build on.
That’s when the idea of a vision board became real. We started gathering images that defined our ambitions—whether it was elevating our photography, expanding our brand, or personal milestones like travel, health, and balance. The challenge? Finding the time in our packed schedule to actually print, lay out, and bring it all together.
Clashing, Compromising & Creating
Like anything we do as a couple and business partners, there was a process—and a bit of creative chaos. Deciding where to build it, how to arrange it, and making sure both of our visions had space on the board led to a few debates (hey, every duo has their moments!). But after stepping back, compromising, and refining, we found a flow, and the board started taking shape.
And yes—we didn’t finish by January 1st. Who said a vision board has to be done at the start of the month? The beginning of the year is still now, and by the end of January, we finally had it up, hanging proudly over our entrance wall. A daily reminder that this year is going to be one hell of a ride.
What This Means for 2025
This isn’t just a board. It’s our commitment—to our craft, our growth, and each other. Every photo, word, and plan pinned to it is something we’re actively working toward. Whether it’s growing Lux & Umbra, refining our artistry, or pushing our personal boundaries, this board is our roadmap.
So here’s to building, growing, and manifesting a year of success. The vision is clear—now it’s time to make it happen.
